Finest Lisburn rock acts are signed up for SONI showcase

LOCAL promoters SONI (Sounds of N.I) host the latest in their series of showcase gig nights in Lisburn on Thursday July 29, at Hague's Bar on Chapel Hill.

This month's show features some of the finest rock acts to emerge from the Lisburn area for many years, and promises to be another memorable night in the atmospheric and friendly venue.

Headliners Bandwagon are fast becoming one of the most talked about bands on the N.I music scene, and indeed their launch gig for debut E.P 'Wasting Time' was one of the busiest SONI nights in Lisburn to date. Built on a foundation of classic rock riffs and strong soulful vocals, the band is increasingly adding their own songwriting twist to proceedings – combining a new maturity with their already strong musicianship.

Special guests are Nasa Assassin – a crunching, pummeling space-rock extravaganza that demands to be seen at least once! The band takes rock showmanship to a new level, whilst not forgetting that big, memorable songs are equally important. Brought to you by the same crew behind the hugely popular Superskin, if you like heavy music, you'll love Nasa Assassin.

Also on the bill is Midnight Transmission – a youthful hard rock 4-piece, not afraid to add a bit of glamour to the mix. Strongly influenced by such extroverted outfits as Guns'n'Roses, as well as the more modern Audioslave, this is another band determined to put on a show.

Kicking off the night is Nathan Miller, a member of two notable local bands – Iago and Kishamaka – who will be making his SONI debut playing an acoustic set, and bringing something completely different to proceedings.

Doors open at 8.30pm, admission is still a recession-proof 3.50, and the show continues to take place on the last Thursday of each month.
