Flash Harry for Brownlow House

FLASH Harry are gearing up for a homecoming gig in Brownlow House.

The Queen tribute band, led by Lurgan man Harry Hamilton, will rock the Castle on Saturday, June 19 as part of the Lurgan 400 celebrations.

Harry told the ‘MAIL’: “We’re hoping to make this a cross community event. It’s open to all people to come along to celebrate in the grounds of Brownlow House. The Castle is a real asset to the town.”

When asked how the band felt about headlining Brownlow House's first ever outdoor concert, Harry said: “We feel very confident. We feel we’re the perfect band to do it.

“We first started out rehearsing in the Castle. We’ve great close ties with it. This feels like a real homecoming gig for us.

“Our first gig as Flash Harry, the Queen tribute, was in Lurgan Town Hall on March 7, 1992, a few days after the big bomb in the town. This will be the biggest gig we’ve done in Lurgan.”

Harry added: “I’ve a great affinity with Brownlow House and Lurgan Park. I grew up in Queen Street and the park was my playground, Brownlow House was somewhere I always admired.

“It’s a great backdrop to what we’re putting on. The organisers hope, if this is successful, to do it on an annual basis.”

He continued: “This will be more or less as visual as we can make it. Because of the nature of the setting we can’t bring an orchestra or a choir. It’ll be the sort of thing we would do in a theatre show.”

Harry confirmed the 40-foot stage would be at the front door of the Castle.

Entertainment starts at 5.30pm and warm up acts include 70s tribute act Glamslam, a U2 tribute band and Not In My Name, a celtic fusion project set up in response to the murder of Constable Stephen Carroll.

The event will also feature a barbecue area and Harry encouraged those not comfortable with standing for the full five hours to bring their own deckchairs or camping seats.

Tickets are 20 and are available from the cafe at Brownlow House, Victor Stewart Enterprises and also online from www.ticketmaster.co.uk
