Flowerfield exhibition turns the lens on forgotten places

THROUGHOUT September and October, Flowerfield Arts Centre in Portstewart will be welcoming a beautifully crafted exhibition of strangely nostalgic, evocative photographs by Richard Bence.

Within the heart of each picture lies an unfinished story of forgotten lives and neglected names - Bence has gone ‘ghost-hunting’ with his camera and captured the essence if not the exact image of long-gone people.

It is surprising, too, that these places are to be found in midst of where we live, within a 20-mile radius of Portstewart.

The pictures are available for viewing throughout September in the Main Gallery - and then throughout October in the Upper Gallery, along the first floor.

There will be a private viewing of Richard Bence’s photographs on Thursday, September 8 between 7pm and 9pm. Refreshments will be served on the evening and the artist will talk briefly about his work.
