Flowerfield swoons to Chopin's 'Last Ballade'

RELIVE the stormy end to one of the great romantic relationships – at Flowerfield Arts Centre this Friday as Michael Lunts brings his 'play with music' The Last Ballade to Portstewart for the first time.

The beautiful compositions of Chopin are the musical backdrop to this unusual concert, which tells the story of Frederick Chopin and his affair with the novelist and ‘femme fatale’ George Sand.

'The Last Ballade', directed by Roger Leach, offers audiences a dramatic insight, through the eyes of Chopin himself, into this extraordinary woman who has been variously described as both his muse and his 'vampire'.

Many of the pieces that Sand inspired, including the beautiful Berceuse, the famous 'Minute' Waltz and the F minor Ballade, are played live as part of the action as Michael Lunts portrays both Chopin the man and Chopin the musician in this unique fusion of drama and live music.

Tickets for the performance are priced at 10, with a concessionary rate of 8 – this includes complimentary interval refreshments. The show starts at 8pm, and tickets are available from Flowerfield Arts Centre – you can also pay at the door, but if you’d like to pay for your ticket in advance, call the Box Office on (028) 7083 1400.
