Flowerfield welcome for Bernie's debut novel

THE SUCCESS of Portstewart author Bernie McGill's debut novel The Butterfly Cabinet will be celebrated at Flowerfield Arts Centre at 7.30pm next Wednesday when the centre welcomes the writer for a special evening of readings.

In addition to developing her reputation as an emerging writing talent, Bernie has been the creative writing tutor at Flowerfield Arts Centre for many years, and has led dozens of students to new heights in their work.

Collecting generous praise from critics, Bernie’s novel, published by Headline Review, explores the consequences of revealing a secret from the past.

Bernie has pursued a diverse career in the arts, as a theatre company manager, as a workshop facilitator, and most recently as a playwright.

Her short stories have been shortlisted for numerous awards, and in 2008 her story ‘Sleepwalkers’ won the Zoetrope All-Story Short Fiction Contest.The Butterfly Cabinet is her first novel.

Flowerfield invites you come along at 7.30pm on September 29 and enjoy a celebration of the written word, in the company of one of the arts centre’s most talented friends.

We understand that staff from Waterstone’s bookstore in Coleraine will be on hand with copies of the book available for sale and for signing.
