Folk metallers Waylander embark on European tour

As part of Seactain na Gaeilge (Irish Language Week) local folk metal band Waylander will be playing on March 6 at Kelly’s in Galway.

This will be the first time the band have been to the city in 10 years so as you can expect there’s a buzz of excitement in the air.

The band whose members are from Lurgan, Armagh and Lisburn are also heading across the water to mainland Europe for a number of dates in support of their latest album ‘Kindred Spirits’.

Their tour includes gigs at Cerninnos Paganfest - La Machine du Moulin Rouge - Paris, France, Fonobar Club - Warsaw, Poland, Rock Out Club - Zielona Góra, Poland, Blackland - Berlin, Germany, Fenris Club - Klein-Pöchlarn, Austria, Blue Hell Club - Budapest, Hungary.

Waylander formed in 1993 and in many ways set the precedent to the flourishing folk metal scene that spans the western world today. The band have gone on to release four albums through major record labels and have toured many parts of the world.
