Fossett’s Circus joins Dalriada Festival line-up

YOUNG and old are set for a magical treat, as the P&O Ferries Dalriada Festival in partnership with UTV confirmed that Ireland’s National Circus, Fossett’s Circus, are set to return to Northern Ireland after a six-year absence.

Synonymous with fun-filled summer afternoons spent under the Big Top, Fossett’s have specially designed an unforgettable experience for children and adults alike to enjoy at the upcoming festival, which takes place from Friday, June 17 to Sunday, June 19 in the Glenarm Castle Estate.

The exciting Festival Circus will be filled with all the thrills and spills of the famous Fossett’s productions and they will have their very own special brand of magic for all to enjoy.

Adrian Morrow, Managing Director Glenarm Castle Estate, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Ireland’s premier and most respected circus have chosen the P&O Ferries Dalriada Festival in partnership with UTV as their first performance in Northern Ireland for several years.

“The big top will be filled with truly amazing performances from acrobats and contortionists. Children and adults will be astonished by the troupe, which includes a Chinese Pole performance, a knife-throwing Ringmistress and of course a clown.

“This really is a weekend not to be missed by families. There is just so much to see and do. It will be a wonderful experience for all.”

The Fossett family has toured all over Ireland presenting the very best in circus entertainment and countless children have enjoyed their first taste of live entertainment courtesy of the circus. More recently, they have performed at President McAleese’s garden parties and the Irish Museum of Modern Art and have been recognised by the Irish government for their enormous contribution to Irish life since 1875.

It has been over six years since Fossett’s Circus has performed in Northern Ireland and when they were contacted by the organisers they were only too happy to become involved with the family-friendly festival.

They are already looking forward to the entire National Circus production coming to Glenarm in 2012.

As well as Fossett’s Festival Circus, the P&O Ferries Dalriada Festival, which is funded by the North East Region Rural Development Programme, has lots on offer to keep the kids entertained including the Dalriada Kiddies Kingdom – with waltzer, dodgems, a Ferris Wheel and much much more.
