Game of Thrones chasing 23 Emmys

Game of Thrones has received the most nominations for this year's Emmys and will go head-to-head with Downton Abbey for outstanding drama series.

The Sky Atlantic fantasy – which is filmed at various locations throughout Northern Ireland – received a huge 23 nominations, edging out The People v OJ Simpson: American Crime Story which earned 22 nominations.

Britons Idris Elba, Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston will compete for best lead actor in a limited series or movie, while James Corden’s Late, Late Show is nominated for outstanding talk series.

The 68th Emmy Awards take place in Los Angeles on September 18.

A host of stars from Game Of Thrones are up for acting awards.

Kit Harington and Peter Dinklage are nominated for best supporting actor in a drama series, while Maisie Williams and Emilia Clarke are nominated for best supporting actress in a drama series.
