Gary joins the Clipper crew in South Africa

Representatives from the City joined the Clipper Fleet in South Africa to “make international connections with business, tourism and media in Cape Town”.

The activity is part of the international promotional plan for the City in partnership with the Clipper 13-14 International Yacht Race.

Gary Middletown said: “This is an opportunity for the City to share its new story with a global audience. This will help develop relationships for the city that can be progressed during the four year partnership that we have with the Clipper Race 2013 -2016”.

The city co-hosted a reception with Tourism Ireland, attend Clipper Network events, and met with local business and media. A unique competition was also planned for all Clipper Crew, encouraging them to get involved in the city’s Halloween celebrations.

A council statement said: “This presents a unique opportunity to invite all crew and corporate sponsors to make a date for the Maritime Festival in the City during June 2014.”
