Get festive with Fusion

After the success of Fusion’s Christmas show last year, the popular Fusion Theatre and the Northern Ireland Concert Band have decided to perform ‘Fusion Festivities’ once again at Lisburn’s Island Centre.

Along with the Northern Ireland Concert Band, Fusion have put together a fantastic show that will put their audiences in the Christmas mood coming into the festive season. With popular numbers such as O Holy Night, the night promises to be a musical extravaganza

Fusion’s award-winning resident Choreographer, Rebecca Leonard is unfortunately unable to take part in Fusion’s latest shows as her due to work commitments. This left Fusion in a dilemma as to who would be a suitable candidate to fill Rebecca’s very large dance shoes.

Fortunately Fusion didn’t have to look too far, as former Fusion cast member and up and coming Choreographer, Rea Campbell was more than willing to take up the challenge. In joining Fusion’s creative team, Rea brings a vast amount of musical theatre experience. After leaving Laurelhill Community College Rea went on to study performing arts (Acting) at Belfast Metropolitan College before furthering his training at London College of Music (BA Hons Musical Theatre) where he graduated with First Class Honours in 2012.

His theatre credits include: Angel, Rent! (Questor’s Theatre, Ealing), Puck, Shake it down (Shakespeare in Town Festival, Savona Italy), Ugly Duck, Hatch! Adventures of the Ugly Duck (The MAC, Belfast), Fritzie/Understudy Emcee, Cabaret (The MAC, Belfast).

Rea is also a member of the choir Groundswell and performed during the opening ceremony of the World Police and Fire Games at the Kings Hall Belfast. He has worked as Choreographer on productions for Lisnagarvey Youth Society for several years, and most recently in their summer production of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ at Lisburn’s Island Arts Centre.

Rea said: “This is my first time working as Choreographer for Fusion Theatre but I am no stranger to the company as i used to tread the boards with Fusion myself as a teenager. It’s amazing to be working with such talented kids and it’s a delight to see such passion and enthusiasm for the work they do. I see a lot of myself in the young people and I have no doubt that many of them will go on to pursue a career in the Industry. We have hit the ground running with work on ‘Fusion Festivities’ and Elton John and Tim Rice’s ‘Aida’. The music in both pieces is beautiful and the story of AIDA is just heart gripping. Not to be missed.”

Performances of Fusion Festivities run from Monday 15 December until Tuesday 16 December. Tickets are selling out fast, but can be obtained at the Island Centre box office on 028 92 509 254 or on line at www.laganvalleyisland.co.uk/event. Tickets cost £12.00

Fusion Theatre would like to thank LAAC and The Arts Council Lottery for their continued support for the
company.
