Getting set for Halloween

With Halloween just around the corner, make sure you don’t miss out on an exciting night of ghostly goings-on and fantastic fireworks at Craigavon Borough Council’s Annual Halloween Extravaganza!

Taking place on Thursday, October 30, the theme this year is medieval monsters based on the phantasmagorical artworks of Hieronymus Bosch – a famous painter from the middle ages.

The freaky fun will begin at 4pm in Rushmere where you will find, music, dance, comedy, stilt walkers and exciting Halloween themed arts workshops to keep the crowds entertained.

The Ulster Youth Jazz Orchestra and Sam Nuadas Medieval Music duo will be providing some stunning live music and everyone will of course be dressed in weird and wonderful fancy dress costumes so make sure you come along in your own original outfit!

The parade will leave Rushmere at 7.30pm and will be led by Samba drummers who will escort everyone down to Craigavon Watersports Centre to watch the amazing fireworks explode at 8pm.

It’s time to start preparing for the scary season and think about creepy costumes and spooky sculptures!

Children aged seven to 16 can come along to the Artspace at Oxford Island where they can join in the free workshops and create their very own mystical masterpiece. This creation can then be brought along to the parade at Craigavon Borough Council’s annual Halloween Extravaganza.

Run by the North Armagh Artist Collective the artists will help the young people put together a phantasmagorical costume or sculpture in keeping with this year’s medieval theme based on artworks by famous middle ages painter Hieronymus Bosch.

These free workshops will take place from 11am–4pm on Saturday, October 18 and 25. For more information call Roisin on 028 3831 1682.
