Glarryford Women’s Institute meeting

The Farmers’ Hall was the venue for the May meeting of Glarryford Women’s Institute when members were welcomed by their president.

Following a short business agenda, the April meeting minutes were read by Mary and approved by all present.

President Margaret welcomed the speaker for the evening from ‘SHINE’ who delivered a very informative talk on the conditions of Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus

The talk gave members a valuable insight into how the condition impactedon both sufferers and their families.

Congratulations were extended to Margaret Kennedy who won a ribbon for ‘counted threads’ craft work.

Members were also reminded that knitted animals were required for Ballymena Agricultural Show and that woollen knits and crafts were needed for Sheep Sales.

Institute members were further reminded that donations of items including bedlinen, clothes, shoes, bags etc. were required for recycling in a bid to raise funds.

The competition for an anagram of body parts was won by Alison Reid with Nan McLaughlin and Janette McAllister, joint second.

The meeting ended with the singing of the ‘Countrywoman’s Song.’
