Gold and silver jewellery are required for upcoming sales

The last auction, the estate sale at Knockspear attracted good numbers, and some surprises despite being late in the season, and competing against soaring temperatures.

Top price was £720 for a Georgian tall boy.

Other prices were: £540 for a pair of Crown Derby candlesticks; £410 for a mahogany coat tree; £520 for a mahogany grandfather clock; £560 for an Irish stick barometer; £500 for a Kieran McGoran pastel; £360 for an oval breakfast table; £260 for an Edwardian dumb waiter; £260 and £170 for GW Morrison watercolours; £270 for a brass carriage clock; £230 for a military sword; £500 for a walnut pier cabinet; £210 for a silver necklace; £270 for two Snaffles prints; £280 for a Roland Hill oil; £300 for a mahogany chiffonier; £190 for a pair of Moorcroft candlesticks; and £270 for a Victorian ladies chair.

At the previous fine furnishings sale a selection of paintings for the late WJ Watson family peaked at £900, and an early Percy French watercolour, requiring cleaning, realised £700.

McAfee Auctions are now looking for good quality furnishings for the August sale, which are presently being catalogued, and for their fine furnishings sale scheduled for September for both Loughgall and Ballymoney. 

In particular they are keen to acquire good quality silver and gold jewellery, as demand continues to be great.
