Musical Director, David Lutton told: “Our pupils took a starring role on and off stage, with many carrying out incredibly responsible roles in the planning, designing and running of the production.

“Final year students completely choreographed the dancing, designed the lighting and one of my GCSE pupils, Keith Cassidy, has been responsible for the

many sound effects throughout the show.”

The production itself was well received, with audiences filling the Dunluce School assembly hall for four shows, including almost 700 primary school

children in two matinee performances.

As well as designing the dance moves Rabann Makepeace, and Zara Watton took to the stage to perform them, as a particularly prickly Rizzo and a suitable ditzy Frenchy respectively.

Christopher Young took on the role of Danny with typical suave style and Lauren McClenaghan played a wholesome (to begin with anyway) Sandy with a great level of maturity. Special mention must also go to Jack McCook, who stepped into the role of Kenickie at very short notice, an made it seem like he’d been playing the role for months.

All the T-birds and Pink Ladies had nonstop energy throughout the performance; the dancing and choreography were a real highlight of the show, with as many as 30 cast members on stage at any one time – each singing and dancing their hearts out.

In all there were over 60 Dunluce pupils involved in show; and Producer, Lynsey Moore was proud of each and every one of them, she said: “Dunluce have always has tremendous pupil involvement when it comes to Drama.

“This was truly a display of the talent we have here in Dunluce.”
