Gretchen is appearing with her husband and pianist Barry Walsh as special guest of The Real Music Club and Old Flattop Productions.

Gretchen has been on the road all year promoting her latest album Hello Cruel World, a captivating collection of material wrung from a year of turmoil. Explaining the album’s genesis, Grammy-nominated Peters says: “In 2010 the universe threw its best and its worst at me.”

Peters says creating Hello Cruel World “was like coming home after a long trip, unlocking the front door and putting my baggage down. Telling these stories was part of the process of stripping myself bare of all the lies, half truths, false selves and misguided intentions we take on in the course of living.”

‘After I’d finished recording Hello Cruel World, certain themes began to emerge… One is the idea that survival is triumph, and that the real heroes are the ones who endure. That theme surprised me,’ she says.

Expect an evening in the company of one of the master storytellers of her generation, and a selection of gorgeous songs, beautifully played.

Tickets for the show are priced at £18 from www.realmusicclub.com or Flowerfield (028) 7083 1400.
