‘Halloween Happenings’ at Rugby Avenue Playing Fields

THE biggest Halloween party in the Borough returns to Rugby Avenue next Wednesday, October 31.

Coleraine Borough Council and sponsors, Specsavers Coleraine, have recently confirmed more details about this FREE event.

The main entertainment programme starts at 7pm with a live band, ‘The Big Kahuna’.

Other entertainment includes fire-jugglers, street theatre, scary walkabouts, face-painting, balloon-modelling and a range of food stalls. The fantastic fireworks finale show will commence at 8.30pm, a spectacle not to be missed!

The vast site at Rugby Avenue, just beside Lodge Road roundabout, will accommodate more entertainment than ever before, including a fun fair which will operate from 2pm until 10pm. The fun fair will be even bigger and better this year with the addition of thrilling new rides including; The Terminator, Twister, Miami Trip Ride and Crazy Frog.

Council encourages everyone to come along in their ‘spooky’ Halloween costumes, particularly children who will have a chance to win a prize in the ‘Fancy Dress Competition’ which starts at 7.30pm at the main stage area.

In a new addition for 2012, Specsavers Coleraine is introducing a “Spectacular Spooktacles” competition with a special prize for the designer and wearer of the most impressive pair of glasses.

Mayor of Coleraine, Councillor Sam Cole said; “It’s fantastic to see this free fun event grow bigger in popularity each year and Council is very appreciative of Specsavers Coleraine for their support. The Events Team in Council work hard to improve the Borough’s annual Halloween programme. I encourage the entire family to get involved, dress up and get into the ‘spirit’ of the festivities!”

Coleraine Borough Council is working closely with PSNI regarding traffic management. Parking is available on one side of Rugby Avenue, Coleraine Rugby Club, and on the hard shoulder of the dual carriageway towards the River Bann. There will be limited parking for Blue Badge holders at the Pavilion on site. No parking will be available in the Glengorm Avenue area.
