Halloween spook-tacular in Coleraine

THE biggest Halloween party in the Borough returns to Rugby Avenue Playing Fields, Coleraine, on Thursday, October 31.

Coleraine Borough Council has confirmed that the free event, “Halloween Happening”, will once again be sponsored by Specsavers Coleraine.

Rugby Avenue, just beside Lodge Road roundabout will be the location to accommodate the event, with more entertainment than ever before, including a fun fair which will operate from 2pm until 10pm.

The fun fair will be even bigger and better this year with the addition of thrilling new rides including The Terminator, Twister, Miami Trip Ride and Crazy Frog.

The Mayor of Coleraine, councillor David Harding commented; “Coleraine Borough Council hosts the Halloween event in Coleraine to attract families to the borough while ensuring residents have a free fun time in their local area. This event is growing each year and is becoming a strong feature in the annual event calendar as we continue to work with our local businesses and build partnerships; I thank Specsavers for being the event sponsor once again.”

The main entertainment programme starts at 7pm with a live band, ‘The James Peake Experience’. Other entertainment includes fire-jugglers, street theatre, scary walkabouts, fancy dress prizes and a special Kids Zone at the Specsavers stage. The fantastic fireworks finale will light up at 8.30pm.

Everyone is encouraged to come along in their ‘spooky’ Halloween costumes, particularly children who will have a chance to win a prize in the fancy dress competition which starts at 7.30pm at the Specsavers stage.

Judith Ball, Store Director of Specsavers in Coleraine comments: “We are delighted to be onboard as the official sponsor of the Borough’s Halloween festivities for the fifth year running.

“We pride ourselves on being a community-based optician and we are always looking for ways to give back to the local people who have supported us over the years.

“This year, on the Specsavers trailer, we will have some ‘ghoulish’ story-telling and ‘spooky’ arts and crafts for all the family to enjoy. ’

“We think that the Halloween celebrations in Coleraine are a great way to bring the community together for a ‘thrilling’ time out with family and friends. We are confident that there will be many spooky treats for everyone to enjoy and we will be focusing on the most ‘eye’ catching costume in the fancy dress competition!”

Council is working closely with the PSNI regarding traffic management.
