High School concert for Smiles

The Londonderry Musical Society and the Britannia Concert Band under their respective MDs Jim Goodman and Noel Barr have come up with yet another exciting programme which features the best of Musical Theatre, ever popular instrumental favourites and a variety of soloists and ensembles of the highest quality.

This year the fast moving extravaganza will include music from Sister Act, Hairspray (performed by the youth section of the LMS) and to please the young and not so young, the hit song “ Let it Go” from the new Walt Disney film “Frozen”. Joanna Higgins and Susan Wilson will perform the classic duet “I know him so well” from the musical Chess and last year’s award winning soloists in Jekyll & Hyde, Shonagh

Lyons and Katie Patton will sing the very moving “ In his eyes”.

Cousins Robert and Martyn Goodman will lead the band in their arrangements of Concierto de Aranjuez

(Flugelhorn) and I will Follow Him (Trombone). Other numbers from the band include The Dambusters March and Adele’s Skyfall while the LMS will entertain with Cole Porter’s Anything Goes and the stirring song Goodbye from the White Horse Inn led by Donald Hill and a chorus of 20 men.

To commemorate the centenary of the First World War the musical forces will combine to render Band of Brothers(Requiem of a Soldier).
