Iain walked 500 miles to raise dogs trust funds

Walking an average of 18 miles a day, former army officer Iain tackled the mountainous Pyrenees and Northern Spain, passing through untouched countryside and ancient villages. Iain has so far raised over £2,028 all of which will go directly to the stray, abandoned and unwanted dogs of Dogs Trust Ballymena.

Iain, from Broughshane, explains: “It was a fantastic experience, there were so many highlights, arriving at the Cathedral Square in Santiago, stands out for me. During my walk I had the pleasure of meeting a range of people from different backgrounds, it was truly incredible to immerse myself in so many different cultures.

“Whilst the walk was challenging I also found it very worthwhile knowing that each step I made was helping the homeless hounds of Northern Ireland. During my walk I also took time to remember my wonderful rescue dog, Tara who sadly died last year. She was a fantastic dog who we rehomed from Dogs Trust in September 2013. Throughout the walk I took time to remember her and relived many special memories.”
