Inaugural Mayday ball at Marine Hotel

BALLYCASTLE Chamber of Commerce, chaired by Paul Cochrane, and Moyle District Council, chaired by Cara McShane, are hosting the inaugural ball on Mayday at Marine Hotel.

This glittering gala affair will mark the start of the summer festive season which will finish on a high note at the Lammas Fair. The May Ball is a new idea for Ballycastle and it is hoped that it will become part of the tradition of the town in as much as the Lammas Fair – the oldest festival in Ireland!

Ballycastle May Day Ball is a fund raising event for the RISE Foundation. This charity is the brainchild of Frances Black. Frances is very proud of her Rathlin family connection.

Her father was born on Rathlin and most of her childhood summers were spent there. So it is fitting that Ballycastle Chamber and Moyle District Council should have her foundation as the receiving Charity for their first May Day Ball. Frances will be guest speaker on the night and it is hoped that she will have a “bumper haul” to support her foundation.

Frances has very positive and innovative plans to develop RISE centre in Rathlin. This development will be of benefit to both her participants in the Moyle area.

Ballycastle Chamber and Moyle District Council are working together to put new vigour into Ballycastle. Many other exciting promotions are in the pipe line to highlight the town image for 2010. The ball is the first social event that the Ballycastle Chamber and Moyle District Council are co hosting and it will be an opportunity for all town people to meet socially and plan how all the area can work together to make Ballycastle the hub of the North Coast.

Tickets are costing 30 for a 4 course meal and a night of fun and dancing to the local band “All Shook Up”
