International blues star to play Brysons

INTERNATIONAL blues star Billy Boy Miskimmin is playing Bryson’s Bar in Magherafelt this Saturday.

The man and his harmonica have spent twenty years touring America, Europe, Australia and even parts of Asia and Africa with bands like The Yardbirds, Nine Below Zero, and now is touring with his band Mercy Lounge.

Miskimmin was headhunted by Nine Below Zero in 1995, one of the key British blues bands of the era.

His reputation quickly spread as a harmonica player and musician and led him to play with Stiff Little Fingers, Marc Almond and others.

His acclaimed solo album ‘Billy Boy Comes Clean’ featured his songwriting and singing as well as showcasing his thrilling harmonica playing.

He went in to play in The Yardbirds in 2003, his solos becoming a distinctive feature of the abnd.

Miskimmin has become part of blues aristocracy, and is well-known and loved by music fans and musicians alike.
