It's cool for CATS at the Riverside Theatre in April

During the last week of the month, Riverside Theatre in Coleraine will undergo a major transformation during which a huge rubbish tip will take over the entire stage area; a rubbish tip that is going to be home to a tribe of very unusual felines as award winning Ballywillan Drama Group's junior section present Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic musical CATS.

In a major coup Ballywillan were awarded the rights to six exclusive performances to be performed by Ballywillan Drama Group Youth, which means that all performers are 21 years old and under.

CATS has received generous sponsorship from Coleraine’s well known dental practice Boyd and Logue.

CATS is Ballywillan’s second musical of 2016 , having just staged LEGALLY BLONDE in the Riverside in January.

Some of that cast will be starring in CATS and the principal roles include: Shea Eastwood as Munkustrap, Chloe Barclay as Jennyanydots, Leon Woods as Rum Tum Tugger, Joel Murphy as Old Deuteronomy and Lucy McDowell as Grizabella who, of course, sings the musical’s most famous song “Memory”.

CATS boasts the same production team as Legally Blonde with Brian Logan, Director, Eric Boyd, Musical Director and Sharon Logan, Musical Staging and Choreography taking the helm once more.

With a dedicated team in support, which includes Victoria Lagan, Choreography, Andrew Robinson, Assistant Musical Director and Alan McClarty, Assistant Director, they have been coaching and training the 46 strong company, whose ages range from 7 years to 21 years since last October.

The amazing costumes and wigs are sure to be one of the highlights of the show.

Set design and lighting design are once again in the very capable hands of Brian Logan who has created a wonderful world in which the Jellicle Tribe of cats can live and play!

The musical runs for six performances from Tuesday 26 April to Saturday 30 April with five evening performances and a matinee show on the Saturday.
