It's panto time again... oh no it isn't... oh yes it is!

LISNAGARVEY Operatic Society are putting the final touches to their annual pantomime, with the curtain going up on the opening performance on Saturday afternoon (December 4) at 2.30pm.

The cast have been hard at work over recent months for the festive show. This year's pantomime is Aladdin and it will once again delight audiences during it's week long run at the Island Hall in Lisburn.

Tim Pentland, who is stepping into the role of panto baddie Uncle Abanazar, said the whole cast is looking forward to taking to the stage once again this year.

"This year's panto Aladdin is shaping up to be livelier and more entertaining than ever," he said.

"The principal line-up is brilliant and includes a few seasoned professionals as well as some new faces.

"It's also great to have Lambeg Players favourite Colin Boyd on board this year as the dame Widow Twankey.

"He's a mischievous character though and with Colin about you never quite know what to expect…although plenty of laughs are guaranteed."

Tim went on to say: "The main characters are also wonderfully supported by the youthful, enthusiastic chorus and dancers.

"We are all certainly eagerly awaiting curtains-up on Saturday and if the audience enjoys the performances as much as we've enjoyed the rehearsals, everyone is sure to have a great time," he added.

Claire Campbell, who is playing Aladdin this year, added: "It's great to see such energy from people this year, with everyone joining in the fun and laughter.

"We have lots of new faces, not to mention a few 'old' classics (some even older than my magic lamp).

"We are here to take you on a magical, mystical journey, not only to the far side of the globe, but through an array of emotions - sadness and happiness, excitement and suspense but to do this we need your support to overcome evil once again - 'Oh yes you can'!"

This is a great show for all the family and one not to be missed in the run to Christmas.

The show runs from Saturday December 4 until Saturday December 11, with evening performances at 7.30pm and matinees each Saturday at 2.30pm.

Tickets, priced 9, are on sale now from the Island Hall Box Office on 9250 9254.
