Journey through musicals

TAKE a journey through the musicals this Friday in the Jethro Centre courtesy of a Lurgan-based six-piece group who specialise in performing songs from the musicals.

The group consists of well known local singers who have been singing for more than 30 years, namely Sinead McKenna, soprano, Mark Magee, tenor, Pat Murphy and Maria Hoy, altos and Rosemary Kelly, soprano. Their MD is Brian Greene, local music teacher and organist at St Paul’s Church.

They have been performing for many years and have been lucky enough to have graced some prestigious Northern Ireland venues such as Hillsborough Castle, Belfast City Hall, The Grand Opera House, Ulster Hall, Waterford International Festival of Light Opera to name but a few.

Most of the group were members of Lurgan Operatic Society which was a highly respected society all over Ireland whilst it was active.

They have been asked many times to turn professional but because of job and family commitments they have been unable to do ths.

This however is the first time that they are doing a concert on their own.

They are back in the Jethro by popular demand since their last concert there in November 2009.
