Keylite runners go for gold challenge

The runners completed the Olympic 100m track to help raise funds for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).

The relays were part of a day of activities at the stadium to raise awareness of The Gold Challenge, a fundraising initiative in which the NSPCC is calling on budding athletes from across the UK to collectively cover a distance of 2012km through a variety of sports such as running, cycling, swimming and horse riding.

The challenge is open until December and money raised from the event and the challenge itself will help continue the vital work of the NSPCC in offering services to children and young people, including ChildLine.

Keylite have set themselves the impressive challenge of contributing 201.2 miles to the overall UK target.

Denis Bradley, National Sales Manager from Keylite said not only seeing the Olympic stadium but also running around the track was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

“I’m delighted that I was selected to attend,” he said. “The Olympic event has kick-started our training for the Keylite Gold Challenge in September.”

The challenge event will see businesses from across Northern Ireland’s construction industry take part in a gruelling 201.2 km challenge, combining some of the most demanding cycling and running routes in the country, over the weekend of September 8/9.

Keylite and friends aim to raise £25,000 to help children and families across Northern Ireland who are in need of NSPCC’s help and support.

NSPCC corporate fundraising manager Claire Quigley said that the Olympic event was a fitting way to mark Keylite’s significant contribution.
