Kimmie returns to Bronte Club for musical memories

KIMMIE Rhodes will return to the Bronte Music Club in May for a very special retrospective set of songs and stories with multi-instrumentalist Gabriel Rhodes.

Kimmie will revisit memories from a career which spans three decades of honky-tonk nights, movie soundtracks, musical theatre and twelve solo album releases, journeying all the way to freshly penned unreleased tunes.

The star’s dreams of Flying CD presents all new originals and a classic duet with her fellow Lubbockite Joe Ely. This group of songs takes us on a poetic voyage from dark to light, longing to hope, grounded to flight in Kimmie’s unforgettably personal yet universal style, ranging from dramatic dreaming to soulful playfulness.

Dreams of Flying features an intriguing all-star cast of musicians: Charlie Sexton (Bob Dylan), John Gardner (The Dixie Chicks, Jesse Winchester, James Taylor) and Mike Thompson (Eagles). Produced by virtuoso multi-instrumentalist Gabriel Rhodes, this recording also includes a song written by his brother Jeremie Rhodes and the CD jacket artwork features stunning photographs by one of America’s most celebrated artists, Kate Breakey.

Dreams Of Flying is out now and follows the November release of Kimmie’s widely acclaimed premier collection of original Christmas songs Miracles On Christmas Day, which The Independent described as “a charming collection containing more great new Christmas songs than I’ve heard on one album since Low’s wonderful 1999 offering, Christmas.”

Kimmie Rhodes will play the Bronte Music Club on Tuesday May 22; the Black Box in Belfast on May 23; and the Strule Arts Centre in Omagh on May 24. Visit www.brontemusicclub.com for more details.
