Larne groups get cash from ASDA token vote

Asda Larne has donated a grand total of £900 to three local groups following the retailer's latest round of in-store '˜Green Token' voting.

Asda’s famous ‘Green Token’ scheme, which runs instore, allows shoppers to select their favourite charity from three local organisations by voting with the ‘green coins’.

After weeks of voting, Cairncastle Primary School came out on top receiving £500, with The Ballygally Biodiversity Group (BBG) and the First Carnfunnock Scout Group each receiving £200.

Asda Larne Community Champion Catherine McCallion said: “Our ‘Green Token’ scheme is always really popular with our shoppers – and allows customers to help make a real difference in our community by having their say.

“All three groups are deserving winners and I know the donations will really help each group continue their great work in the community. Both the Ballygally Biodiversity Group and the Scouts have close links to Daffodil Lane in the Carnfunnock Country Park so it was the ideal location to hold the presentation. Well done to all involved!”
