Lensmen at Ballyearl for all-Ireland festival

The Northern Ireland Photographic Association’s annual two-day audio visual festival took place at The Courtyard Theatre, Ballyearl, recently.

For the first time, the festival was an ‘all-Ireland’ event attracting entries from camera club members across Ireland from both the Northern Ireland and Irish Photographic Federations.

This gave an added dimension for the many visitors from the Republic of Ireland who attend the event each year.

Audio visual presentations are still images of varied subjects, woven as stories or as documentaries set to music and commentary.

The guest judge was Richard Brown FRPS, award-winning audio visual worker and international judge. Richard has judged festivals in his native England and as far away as Australia and New Zealand.

Newtownabbey Mayor Alderman Victor Robinson attended with his wife on the opening evening and enjoyed a presentation of Richard work.

The winners of Saturday’s competition received their prizes from Deputy Mayor Alderman Frazer Agnew.

The organising committee of the festival was delighted to welcome these dignitaries and thanked the council for its continuing support during the past 25 years.
