Lisburn band launching debut EP

PROMOTERS SO:NI (Sounds of N.I) will be holding a very special gig for April as part of their monthly series of showcase gigs in Lisburn, at Hague's Bar on Chapel Hill.

This month's show takes place on Thursday April 29, and will be headlined by Lisburn's own classic rockers Bandwagon, who are launching their debut E.P release 'Wasting Time' on the night.

Bandwagon have been building an enviable live reputation the length and breadth of Ireland over the last couple of years, and this CD release is a real 'coming of age' moment for the band – showing a growing maturity in their soulful and bluesy hard rock sound.

The boys' secret weapon is the Rory Gallagher influenced guitar virtuoso attack of frontman Phil Edgar – backed by a powerful, pounding rhythm section. Bandwagon always deliver the goods live.

Special guests on the night are a hard rock outfit from Belfast and Bangor – Sweet Taste – another band who combine a love for the 70s greats with a youthful vitality. Their raunchy rock performance is the perfect complement to the headliners.

Also on the bill and bringing something very different to proceedings is Lisburn singer-songwriter Malaika, whose smoky, soulful voice and strong image have the potential to cause a major stir in the music business – an acoustic performance not to be missed.

Kicking off the night, and playing their first ever live show is a brand new Lisburn band Sensible Creation. This alternative rock outfit is led by songwriter Alan Kennedy, who has already played a couple of well received acoustic slots at the SONI shows.
