Live music nights continue at Alexanders

OLD Castle PR are continuing their local live music nights on Saturday May 1 at Alexander's Bar in Young Street, Lisburn.

This month the line up includes Jonny Black from LaFaro, Cara Cowan and Paul Corrigan.

Cara Cowan, 21, has been performing in and around Northern Ireland since she the tender age of 16. In this time she has been part of many different band lineups, has frequently moonlighted with other artists and has played around with many different styles, but primarily has settled on a sound of her own which fuses a mixture of conventional pop with a modern folk element.

Similarly to Cara's own personality, style and attitude, her music is also a hybrid of upbeat and rocky numbers contrasted with butter-wouldn't-melt-in-her-mouth cutesy ballads and quirky tunes - a healthy mix of mood and tempo which reflect the multifaceted nature of the lady herself.

Also on the bill is Paul Corrigan, who provided vocals and guitar for four-piece funk/rock band 'Elysium'. "Since 2008, I conjured melody and brought the thunder with electro/instrumental act "C://andy~Flippin'", explained Paul.

"Our only release 'The forgiveness of kings' was limited to a few copies. 2010 has seen the return to writing for me, building up a strong list of Acoustic performances. Popular session songs would be Guts, Holy Man (included on the E.P. provided) and Sweet Talkin'. A troubadour and appearing in formats (solo, with friends, acoustically, electrified), that's about all the boundaries I can bear to place around myself," he added.

Completing the line up is Jonny Black, lead singer with rock band LaFaro. With a busy year already lined up for LaFaro, including an album launch next week, this is a rare opportunity to see frontman Jonny going solo.

Catch Paul, Cara and Jonny at Alexanders next Saturday night. Doors open at 8.30pm and door tax is just 4.
