Local band celebrates award at Banbridge busking festival

Local band Que Pasa? picked up the Spirit of Buskfest award at this year’s competition in Banbridge at the weekend.

The seven piece band come from parts far and wide including several members from the borough of Craigavon.

Their line-up is Matthew Burke (guitar/vocals), Peter Close (bass/vocals), Sam Green (tiddly guitar), Keelan Brown (drums, cowbell, tambourine, percussion), Andrew Cox (trumpet, trombone), Zacc McGloughlin (tenor saxophone/vocals) and Conor Adams (ukulele, shaker).

It’s fair to say their eclectic vibes created a major stir during Buskfest.

The streets of Banbridge were alive with music on Saturday when the town celebrated its 11th annual busking festival, with a record number of buskers taking part in this year’s competition.

The gorgeous weather undoubtedly helped bring the vast crowds into the town to enjoy the colourful array of busker performers with traditional bands, singer songwriters, acoustic and electric guitarists, flautists, tubas and trombones players all featuring in a superb afternoon of family entertainment.

The onlookers were soaking up the atmosphere of the day and were entertained by acts from all over Ireland, north and south, and were not disappointed with the range of talent on show.

Following the busking competition the awaiting crowd were treated to an excellent spectacle of music by Allison McGrath and Soulantics in Solitude Park before the all-important winners were announced.
