Loreto pupils to stage ‘Phantom of the Opera’

Preparations are underway at Loreto College Coleraine for one of the school’s most ambitious musical productions to date: performances of Phantom of the Opera will be staged in the College Hall early next month.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s well-known musical will run at Loreto College from Tuesday 15 until Friday 18 October.

Loreto’s production of Phantom of the Opera features a cast of approximately 100 students drawn from the College’s Senior and Junior year groups. In the title role of the Phantom is Hal McGonigle (Year 13), and opposite him as Christine is Sarah-Jayne McGill (also Year 13).

Other leading roles are played by Connor Dudley-Fergus (Year 12), Clodagh Rainey (Year 13), Saryah McCrossan (Year 14), Rosanna McAleese (Year 14), Conor Anderson (Year 14), Fergus Kelly (Year 14), Niall Hunter (Year 12), Niamh Doherty (Year 13), Lucas Levy (Year 13) and Rebecca Kealey (Year 13). The production is directed by Mrs Oonah McEwan, Head of Drama at Loreto, and the Musical Director is the College’s Vice Principal, Mr Stephen Gallagher, ably assisted by Choreographer Mrs Venessa Chapman.

Rehearsals are in full swing at Loreto College in advance of the opening night, and an impressive set is being assembled on the stage of the College Hall.
