MADS to put on a Cinderella story

IT'S only the first month in 2010 but already Moyraverty Arts and Drama Society based at St Anthony's Centre have put together a new show.

The popular family story of 'Cinderella' will take to the stage on Thursday, February 4 at 7pm and continues on Friday, Saturday and finishes on Sunday, February 7.

Show producer Kieran Corr said "We put on a total of four shows last year which included Les Miserables, Annie, Sleeping Beauty and Calamity Jane. All these shows were very successful and we had over 300 performers taking part.

"This year we intend to produce at least five shows the first starting with Cinderella. We have got so many talented people on are books and we want to give them all a chance of performing on stage.

"Amy McConville from Lismore Comprehensvie will perform in the leading role of Cinderella. Nicola Harrison a pupil at St Mary's High School will perform as the wicked Stepmother. With Aisling McKavanagh also from St Mary's High School and Rebecca Harbinson from Lismore Comprehensive will perform as the evil stepsisters.

"We will have a cast of over 70 taking part in this production. The choreographer for Cinderella will be the very talented Helen McCrory who has performed in numerous shows for the drama society. Future shows on the pipeline include Blood Brothers, Back To The 80s and a production especially for a teenage performers.

"However all our time and energy will be concentrated on making sure that Cinderella is performed to a very high standard. "
