Margey to stage Major Exhibition in Portrush this weekend

The Ramada Hotel Portrush will host a major exhibition of new work by Kilrea artist Adrian Margey this Bank Holiday Weekend (Friday 29th April – Monday 2nd May).

A series of high profile one man shows across Northern Ireland has brought Margey phenomenal success over the past couple of years. This latest exhibition will focus on contemporary portrayals of North Coast landmarks, rural life and musical traditions.

White Rocks Beach, Portstewart Prom, Ballintoy Harbour, Giant’s Causeway, Portballintrae, Dunluce Castle and Mussenden Temple are just some of the places that have inspired this series of work. A number of the artist’s popular Irish traditional music session and Irish dancing scenes will also be on show together with dramatic depictions of Donegal and Connemara. Belfast and Dublin Cityscapes are beginning to feature more prominently in his work also.

“I paint those places and things which are familiar to me, but through use of bold colour, simplification of form and experimentation with texture I aim to bring a new perspective to them,” explains the artist. “I’m delighted to be exhibiting on the North Coast again this year - so much of my inspiration is derived from here. The exhibition promises to demonstrate the breadth of work that I do – with both my contemporary and traditional styles well represented in the show.”

The exhibition opens on the evening of Friday 29th April from 6.30pm to 9.30pm and continues Saturday 30th April, Sunday 1st May 11am - 8.30pm and Monday 2nd May 11am – 6pm.
