Mark delighted to be part of ‘Hewitt School’ in Armagh

There was good representation from Coleraine at the recent John Hewitt Summer School in Armagh.

Alliance Cllr Yvonne Boyle, a regular at the event, was pleased to again support the bursary scheme through the Coleraine Borough Arts Committee which sponsors local people to attend.

Mark Wilson, who gained a bursary via the Coleraine Borough Arts Committee, read some of his work at the Creative Writing Showcase on the last day.

Reflecting on his week’s experience, Mark Wilson said: “I feel extremely grateful and lucky to have been given the chance to attend the John Hewitt Summer School as a bursary student. All week I had a sense of being very privileged to be a part of something very special with many talks and a great writing workshop. I learned so much about what it means to be a writer and poet. I would like to sincerely thank the Coleraine Borough Arts Committee for my bursary which enabled me to experience such a momentous week.

Deputy Mayor, Yvonne Boyle added, she was priviledged to meet Irish President, Michael D Higgins at the event.
