Mayor's Show - miss it miss out!

BALLYMONEY Mayor's Show, the biggest civic event in the Council calendar, takes place on Saturday 26 June and the excellent entry of floats, vintage and classic vehicles promises a great display.

All vehicles in the show can be seen at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre from 1-3pm, and this year's line up includes a magnificent array of vintage and classic cars, motorbikes, tractors, stationary engines, steam engines and trucks.

The owners come from all over Northern Ireland and each year brings a wealth of new entries along with those who have been supporting the show for over 25 years!

Community and voluntary groups, and commercial and haulage businesses have also shown tremendous support for the show, putting a huge amount of work into preparing their floats and vehicles for the parade.

The Mayor's Parade is undoubtedly the most spectacular part of the day and always attracts huge crowds of people who line the route through the town. The parade leaves the Leisure Centre at 3pm and makes its way down the Garryduff Road, Queen Street, Victoria Street, Charles Street, High Street and Main Street returning to the Leisure Centre via Meeting House Street and back up the Garryduff Road. The new Mayor of Ballymoney will be leading the parade in the winning car and there will be music from Ballyduff Silver Band and Espresso Jazz.

Popular DJ Barry Thompson will also be at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre from 1-3pm providing music and chat in the lead up to the parade. He'll be joined by the Friendly Faces cartoon characters, with face painters and balloon modellers. Further details are available from Tourist Information at Ballymoney Town Hall Tel: 028 2766 0230.
