Meet the Victorians at Coleraine Town Hall
Mayor of Coleraine, Councillor George Duddy commented, “This exhibition provides a valuable opportunity for both our local children and residents to learn about their town and understand how much we owe to the Victorians.
“The exhibition features a small section titled ‘Rites of Passage – a Christening, a Wedding and a Funeral’. This looks at the traditions and customs surrounding these occasions and Coleraine Museum is hoping, with your help, to develop a new exhibition for 2015.

Museum Service Officer Sarah Carson explained: “The Victorian Coleraine exhibition gives you the opportunity to meet some of the interesting characters who lived in Coleraine between 1837 and 1901.
“Local primary schools have been invited to participate in a Victorian Coleraine town tour in which they will visit some of the major buildings constructed during the Victorian period, such as the old Irish Society’s Primary School.
“As well as this, we will take a look at the Market Yard and talk about the workhouse and courthouse, which were both built during the Victorian period. Through objects and real life characters, the history of Coleraine will be brought to life.”
