More headline acts added to Belsonic line up

DUE to the overwhelming response to the 2010 line-up and unprecedented sales so far, Belsonic is set to expand with the announcement of four additional shows, to comprise a total of eight nights at Belfast's Custom House Square this August.

Significantly building on the massive success of the past twp years, the 2010 line-up represents one of the largest Northern Irish outdoor music events to date.

Leading the charge on this second phase of announcements are English rock giants Kasabian, Scottish singer/songwriter Paolo Nutini, BRIT award winning indie outfit Florence & The Machine, and Welsh rock stalwarts Stereophonics.

Each act individually could be considered the highest profile in the history of the event, however combined with previously announced headliners - Paul Weller, David Guetta, Biffy Clyro, LostProphets and 2ManyDJs/Soulwax - Belsonic 2010 is set to be a landmark cultural event for the city, catering to a diverse range of age groups.

Councillor Pat Convery, Lord Mayor of Belfast, said: "Belsonic is a fantastic festival for the city - bringing together international and local musicians to produce really exciting events in the unforgettable surroundings of Custom House Square.

"The announcement of the further acts is fantastic news for local music fans - and there's no doubt that this programme will help to attract even more visitors to come and enjoy Belfast's welcome.

"And thanks to the talent, energy and dedication of our local artists and promoters we're poised and ready to capitalise on that trend."

Florence and the Machine is the stage name of indie-rock songstress Florence Welch, one of the brightest British talents of the last 10 years.

Her 2009 debut LP "Lungs" includes the hit singles "Dog Days Are Over", "Drumming Song" and a cover of the Candi Staton classic "You've Got The Love", which was later re-worked with Dizzee Rascal to create chart topping single "You've Got The Dirtee Love". Florence's stage presence and powerful vocal range have seen her shoot to fame over the last 12 months, and pick up a host of awards on the way including the BRIT for Best 2010 Album.

She returns to Belfast on Thursday, August 19 following last year's stunning sell-out show at The Ulster Hall to headline day three of Belsonic.

Welsh arena-rock stalwarts Stereophonics need little in the way of introduction.
