Music showcase comes to Glasgowbury sessions

THE acclaimed IMRO Showcase Tour stops off in Draperstown this weekend for a four-band spectacular as Glasgowbury host the Derry leg.

The 20th Irish Music Rights Organisation Showcase Tour sees over 50 acts taking to various stages including Dublin, Galway, Belfast and of course Draperstown.

The local leg will see four bands take to the stage at the Cellar Bar in Draperstown, including Rams’ Pocket Radio, Our Krypton Son, Intermission and Mojo GoGo. It’s a great line-up for Glasgowbury’s G Sessions as four of the finest emerging talents from County Derry and beyond will be performing.

Mojo GoGo are a young Derry/Donegal four-piece freshly emerged with the makings of two EPs already under their belt and a strong style to boot. Niki Pollock’s unique vocal style lends more than a nod to the late Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy, which supported by the rest of the band creates an up-to-date indie sound that makes a lasting impression.

Intermission on the other hand have more history behind them with frontman Glenn Rosborough hailing from former Derry electro-rock band Kharma 45. The band has an indie style with a distinctive sound that on early evidence, could make them one to watch.

Our Krypton Son, the brainchild of Chris McConaghy, takes to the G Session stage for the first time with his critically acclaimed project. Fresh off the second stage at Vital in Bangor, the Derry collective ply the trade folk pop with a gypsy slant- a unique sound best heard on the recently released Catalonian Love Song.

Topping the IMRO Showcase bill will be Rams’ Pocket Radio, one of the most highly sought-after artists currently making waves in the NI music scene. In a summer of triumphant success for Peter McCauley and bandmates, they’ve graced stages at Glasgowbury, Glastonbury, Vital and are set only for bigger and better things.
