'˜Nelson - The Sailors' Story' comes to Riverside Theatre

Nicholas Collett performs the award-winning 'Nelson - The Sailors' Story' at The Riverside Theatre in Coleraine, this week.

The show had its world premiere at the GMT International Theatre Festival in Adelaide, South Australia in October 2013. Since then it has been touring the UK as well as appearing as part of Brighton Fringe and the Edinburgh Festival.

The show won Best of Kansas City 2015 Critics Choice and has also played in the hold of the world-famous Cutty Sark in Greenwich.

Nicholas has a long history of performing at the Riverside. He toured here with the Medieval Players, before playing the Greed Goblin in “Sleighrider”. He then appeared here in many Shakespeare productions with the company he co-founded, Third Party, before bringing his selfpenned “Spitfire Solo” in 2012. For two hundred years, Vice Admiral, the Right Honourable, the Viscount Nelson KB has stood patiently on his column in Trafalgar Square, watching the world and its many changes, good – and bad.

But what happened to the “tars” who served with him? Through their eyes we find out what it was really like at Trafalgar; and in Nelson’s own words, the hero – and the rebel, then – and now.

The show is on stage at the Riverside on Wednesday, April 13 at 8pm. Meanwhile, before that, on Wednesday, April 6 This Land, a new play by Siân Owen which has been commissioned by Pentabus Theatre Company and Salisbury Playhouse and will visit the Riverside Theatre.

This Land explores what happens when a family face the threat of a fracking company setting up a drilling site, metres from their village home.

The play hurtles through thousands of years of history, exploring the layers of lives lived on one patch of land – everything that has happened there and what is to come.

Tickets for both shows can be obtained from the Box Office 02870 123 123 or visit www.riversidetheatre.org.uk
