New banner unfurled at Carnew
Carnew Temperance LOL No 982 new banner was unfurled on Wednesday June 1 by Mrs Barbara Coburn, wife of the Bro Maurice Coburn, Worshipful Master of the Lodge and Worshipful District Master of Lower Iveagh District LOL No 1.
The banner was dedicated by Wor Bro Rev Alistair Smyth (Deputy Grand Master), who gave a challenging address based on ‘Gideon Choosing His Army’ the story of which is depicted on the new banner.
Aughnaskeagh Silver Band, conducted by Gary Shields, led the praise which included ‘O God our help in ages past’ and ‘Abided with me’. Bro Bertie Wallace, a senior member of the Lodge made a presentation to Mrs Coburn.
In conclusion, a vote of thanks proposed by Carnew Deputy Master Bro George McLoughlin, was seconded by Carnew Chaplain Bro John Bingham
