New Mini Golf ‘Opens’ at Jet Centre

The Open Championship returning to Portrush is not the only big golfing news to hit the North Coast!

An 18 hole mini golf course at the Jet Centre in Coleraine is set for completion by the start of July, in time for the busy holiday period.

The 11,000 square foot outdoor mini golf course represents a £500,000 investment in the Jet Centre, the North Coast’s premier leisure facility.

The course was designed and built by leading US golf specialists Harris Miniature Golf based in New Jersey. The company has more than 50 years’ experience and specialises in designing beautiful courses that provide a fun-filled family experience.

“Mini golf is great fun for people of all ages - it’s the perfect addition to the Jet Centre as it means we can offer entertainment both inside and outdoors,” Jet Centre owner Michael McAdam said.

“This is a really exciting addition to our buzzing centre which is popular with families, couples and groups of young people,” he added.

The centre features an eight-screen Movie House Cinema, Alley Cats Indoor Adventure Play, Superstrikes Bowling, an arcade and The Diner licensed restaurant. The company is also currently renovating the cinema foyer.

The Jet Centre was bought by Movie House Cinemas Ltd in 2006 after years of lying empty and falling into disrepair. The centre was totally gutted and transformed into a modern, busy facility serving the local residents and tourists alike and now employs 100 people.

The Mini Golf is due to open on July 1 with construction already well underway.

Harris Golf, is the largest mini golf construction company in North America, and is currently expanding into Europe – but the Jet Centre is their first course in Ireland.

Andrew Mair, European Director for Harris Golf said: “This course is unique by its design. It’s a beautifully landscaped course with water fountains, streams and holes that putt like regular golf. We worked closely with the Jet Centre to give them an amazing course that will be perfect for its idyllic location on the North Coast.”
