New Year concerts for Let’s Sing Gospel

The concerts will be held in Drumreagh Presbyterian Church on Friday, January 22, Portstewart Baptist ChurchonSaturday January 30 and Causeway Coast Vineyard onFriday, February 5.

And, if the past four years are any guide, audiences will again be treated to evenings of high energy and exciting quality praise in music and song.

As in previous years Jonny Boyd, the choir’s musical director has chosen quality musicians to back the choir. He will play keyboards with Jack Owens on bass, Andrew Lee on lead guitar and Nigel Dooey on drums.

Joining them will be Adrian Millar and Alan Goodman on trumpet, Philip McGavock on trombone, Jonny Campbell-Smyth on sax, Ian Hannah on keys and Gordy McCracken on percussion.

The soloists are Chris Robinson and Hannah Hamilton.

Jonny and Tony Morrison, the conductor, have trained the choir and this year promises to better the previous concerts with songs that are full of harmony, movement and heartfelt praise.

Since its formation five years ago the choir has grown to 120 voices and this year will be accompanied once again by Barazina Youth Choirs.

The members of ‘Let’s Sing Gospel’ are drawn from across the north coast and will perform a mixture of Black Gospel and modern worship.

There are also husband and wife couples, parents and children and even grandparents, children and grandchildren leading to a family atmosphere.

Over the four years Let’s Sing Gospel concerts have raised over £35,000.00 for a variety of charities and the beneficiaries this year are CHEERS Youth Centre in Ballymoney, Causeway Foodbank and Kitetika School in Uganda.
