This will be Margey’s sixth consecutive year exhibiting at the Ramada Portrush. Renowned for his depictions of iconic Ulster landmarks, the Portrush exhibition will place a strong focus on the landscape and landmarks of the North Coast in particular.

Vivid interpretations of Dunluce Castle, Mussenden Temple, Ballintoy, Portbradden, Portrush Harbour, Portballintrae, Portstewart Strand and the Causeway sit at the heart of this collection and are complemented with a number of the artist’s portrayals of Irish dancers and traditional musicians.

“I am really looking forward to returning to the North Coast next weekend with a new body of work, much of which takes its inspiration from the local area. I have used bold colour, strong shapes and expressive texture in an attempt to conjure up moods and evoke an emotional response from the viewer. I have employed palette knife, brush work and finger-painting techniques to bring a new perspective to the familiar and hope that visitors enjoy the mix of work on show,” enthused Margey.

Self-taught and working from his Kilrea studio, Margey cites the Fauves, the Irish Impressionists and the indigenous artists of South America among his key influences. He combines a kaleidoscope palette with lazy brushstrokes and expressive knife work to create his distinctive work.

The exhibition opens next Friday 1st May: 6pm – 9pm and continues Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd May 11am – 8pm / Monday 4th May: 11am – 6pm. Admission free – all welcome.
