Our Roger has the ‘X Factor!’

A PORTRUSH off licence worker has been hailed “the new Subo” after wowing the X Factor judges.

32-year-old Roger Boyd was nicknamed “RoBo” by production staff after amazing the audience with a near perfect audition in Liverpool recently.

Walking on stage, an X Factor source said Roger looked like a nerdy rocker, dressed all in black with long blond hair.

The Portrush man, who is well known on the local karaoke circuit in the town, revealed that Britain’s Got Talent sensation Susan Boyle is his inspiration and even named his dog Pebbles, after her cat.

The Coleraine Times contacted Roger but the X Factor’s strict confidentiality rules mean that he is now allowed to speak to the Press until he progresses to the later stages of the show.

A show source said: “Just like SuBo, Roger looked a bit geeky and not an obvious star when he walked on without much stage presence, but he launched into Meatloaf’s I’d Do Anything For Love and the crowd went wild.

“The judges had no hesitation in putting Roger through. If he gets to the finals he will be given a great makeover.”

Off-licence worker Roger said he had honed his voice by doing karaoke at a bar.

Judge Gary Barlow told him at Liverpool’s Echo Arena: “I absolutely loved it. That was great.”

And Louis Walsh asked: “Why didn’t we come here before?”

The X Factor is back on TV next month so keep an eye out for our Roger!
