Outstanding trio of traditional musicians

A SPRINGTIME feast of traditional and inventive music making will descend upon Ballymoney Town Hall on Wednesday 24th March at 8pm with Buttons, Barrels and Bows, a show featuring virtuoso fiddle player Caoimhín " Raghallaigh, gifted flautist Catherine McEvoy and?concertina maestro Micheál "'Raghallaigh.

Dublin-born Caoimhn Raghallaigh plays traditional and contemporary folk music on fiddle, 5-string viola and hardanger fiddle. His 'Kitty Lie Over' album (2003) with Dublin uilleann piper Mick O'Brien was described by the Irish Times as being "a niftier mood enhancer than any drug therapy". In 2007, he released 'Where the One-Eyed Man is King', an adventurous, self-produced EP. Caoimhn has also recorded and performed with the likes of Iarla Lionrd, The Waterboys and accordionist Breandan Begley.

Originally from Birmingham, Catherine McEvoy is one of the finest contemporary exponents of the Sligo-Roscommon style of flute playing, both lyrical and driving. Catherine is a former member of Macalla the first all female traditional group. Her recordings include 'Catherine McEvoy' (1998) and 'The Kilmore Fancy' (2004), which features her brother, fiddler, John McEvoy.
