Play opens this weekend

AFTER the recent success of ‘The Little Mermaid’, MADS teenage/senior group will perform the award winning play ‘A Peace of History’ which was written by Raymond Murray.

This show is part of MADS 15th Anniversary and to help celebrate it, this will be the first time that MADS have produced a play.

The show will open tomorrow night (Friday) at 7.30pm. The show will then continue on Saturday at 8.45pm and will close on Sunday at 7.30pm.

The show will feature top MADS performers such as Nicola O’Hara, Laura Robinson, Aaron Murphy, Michael McAleenan, Emma Watson, Karen McConville, Caroline Henry, Eimear O’Neill and more.

The cast also includes senior cast members Gerry Heaney, Geraldine Owens, David Murphy, Connor Smith, Brendan Magee and Jacqui Cullen.

The show is about a young teacher named Heather, portrayed by Nicola O’Hara, who teaches in an all girl Catholic school and faces many challenges ahead of her.

Barry McCrory, spokesperson for the drama society commented, “This play tackles issues around the post Troubles in Northern Ireland.The play has a funny but serious element to it. I would encourage everyone to come along and see this spectacular show.”

Producer Kieran Corr added: “‘A Peace of History’ is an excellent play and I am really looking forward to it being performed in front of a live audience. MADS would also like to thank Raymond Murray for his kind permission in letting us perform this award winning play.”

Tickets (£5) are still available from St Anthony’s Centre or Print Business Supplies in North Street. Tickets can also be booked through the box office on 3831 6496. Alternatively come along, pay at the door and be allocated a seat.
