Poetry reading at Sheskburn House

Joan Newmann was an original member of the famous Philip Hobsbaum Belfast Group in the 1960’s with Seamus Heaney, Michael Longley and others.

She taught at the University of Ulster, was awarded the Samhain International Poetry Award and has published several collections. Kate Newmann’s latest collection is ‘Grim’ (Arlen
House).

Her awards include the Allingham Poetry Prize, Listowel Poetry Prize and a Commendation in the National Poetry Competition. Both poets were founder members of the Ballycastle Writers’ Group before setting up Summer Palace Press in
Donegal.

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council welcomes them back to Ballycastle to read from selected poems at Sheskburn House on Wednesday 25 November at 7.30pm.

Admission is free, all welcome.
