The Mayor renewed Council’s commitment to the promotion of an inclusive environment in the Borough for everyone and support for positive inter-community relations.

The reception was held to co-incide with the opening of an international touring exhibition hosted by Mid-Antrim Museum at The Braid entitled ‘Treasures of the Middle Ages’.

The exhibition celebrates through archaeological finds the exquisite craftsmanship of Slavic artisans from the 6th to 11th centuries who fashioned beautiful jewellery from silver, amber and other semi-precious materials.

Invited guests to the Mayor’s Parlour included Dr. Wojciech Brzeziński, Director of the State Archaeological Museum, Warsaw, from which institution the exhibition has toured. Down County Museum as the lead partner for the exhibition’s tour in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland in 2013/2014 was represented by Curator, Mike King.

‘Treasures of the Middle Ages’ is on display in the History Gallery at Mid-Antrim Museum until 6th January, admission to the exhibition is free.
