Praise for culture event

April Garfield was among those to attend the ‘History and Culture of Marching Bands’ in Newbuildings on Wednesday of last week.

The guest speakers were Quincey Dougan, Stewart Bradshaw and Alison Scott-McKinley.

“The speakers had travelled from all over the province and were engaging and informative. I feel a lot of useful discussion took place and that all communities learn from these sessions were contacts, advice and constructive feedback is presented.

“These opportunities are both encouraging to those who are the backbone of such organisations and also supportive to sure that the various aspects of the Marching Band Culture is maintained and reflected and promoted in a positive, dedicate and friendly manner,” she said, adding: “Congratulations to the organisers on a successful evening and to the guests who gave of their time and experience.”
